Official License Plates
American Legion Department of Indiana
The American Legion Department of Indiana’s Special Recognition License Plates are issued by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Legion, Auxiliary and SAL members can purchase plates for their automobiles, recreational vehicles and light trucks weighing less than 11,000 pounds at their local BMV branch office. You can now go directly to your local branch and pay all fees to the BMV without requiring any paperwork from the department. The BMV will send the American Legion Department of Indiana their portion of your fees. Please do not wait until the last minute to go to your BMV for your special requested number. It may take your local branch a few days to track the location of your number and get it shipped to their branch.
Please note if you are requesting a plate number between 1 and 100, you will need to contact Becky Fancher, 317-630-1300, to have it released.
