There is a $15.00 BMV administrative fee charged by statute on ALL special recognition license plates which is paid at the time of registration. This fee is in addition to the $10 listed group fee paid to the organization(s). The group fee from the American Legion Department of Indiana license plate is used to offset the cost of its license plate program; contribute to veterans service programs; and fund department-sponsored children and youth activities. All fees are paid at the BMV. Please note that the BMV assigns specialty plates on a first come first serve basis. The American Legion has no control over whether your preferred number has already been selected by someone else.
