INDIANA AMERICAN LEGION STATE GOLF

TOURNAMENT BID LETTER

 

TO: ALL POST GOLF CHAIRMEN and POST ADJUTANTS

The American Legion, Department of Indiana announces that bids are now being taken from all Posts interested in hosting the 2009 AMERICAN LEGION STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT.

The Department Golf Committee wishes to hold the 2009 tournament in June 20-21, 2009. The tournament will be a 36-hole event.

Posts that wish to bid on the 2009 Tournament must submit their bids using the official TOURNAMENT BID FORM enclosed. Bids must contain information on cart rentals, green fees, housing availability, and prize fund monies.

IMPORTANT: ALL bids must be at Department Headquarters by April 1, 2008. Any bids received after this date will not be considered.

In 2007, over 300 golfers played in the State Tournament. The American Legion State Golf Tournament is one of the largest fraternal organization tournaments in the state of Indiana, and can be financially profitable for the host Post.

AMERICAN LEGION STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

BID INFORMATION

 

Any Post wishing to submit bids for the American Legion State Golf Tournament MUST HAVE access to two (2) 18-hole golf courses. Posts having access to only one golf course will not be considered.

In the event of rain, the Department Golf Committee may declare the tournament official after 18 holes.

The American Legion State Golf Tournament is a straight score Tournament. No handicaps or scoring systems are used.

Money, which is included in each entry fee as 19th hole, must be used by the Post to provide benefits for the golfers attending the Tournament. (Example: Free soft drinks, hot dogs, bag tags, etc.)

Shotgun starts or tee times are at the discretion of the host Post officials and course pros.

Prize monies will be issued in checks to the winners.

The local Golf Committee/host Post agrees to furnish all personnel to operate the Tournament such as score checkers, posters, etc.

The local Golf Committee/host Post keeps all moneys generated from sale of meals, chances, and bar business.

The host Post should plan to have meal service for golfers and some type of Saturday evening event.

The host Post is responsible for blocking out rooms in available motels and hotels, and for establishing a room price with hotel/motel management.

Department Headquarters will prepare all mailings on the Tournament, coordinate with the host Post, and mail all prize winnings at the conclusion of the Tournament.

The State Golf Tournament will be under the supervision of the State Golf Committee, Department Headquarters, and the host Post.
