Please open the attached document for volunteer information. All Legion, Auxiliary and SAL members who wish to volunteer for any convention duty, including those who have already volunteered, are encouraged to complete and submit the volunteer forms.
2011-2012 Department and District officers whose photographs were taken during the 2011 Fall Conference will receive un-retouched proofs of the photographs before the end of October. Officers should choose one pose from among the proofs to be printed as the official photograph for this year. They also will have the opportunity to order prints of the official photograph for personal use, and/or to select other poses for additional prints. The Department will order, at its expense, one print as your official photograph. You may select the pose you wish used for your official photo.

The 6th district has changed their meeting location on January 22 from Riley to Terre Haute Post 346. The time has not changed.
House Bill 1109 was passed and is due to be signed by Governor Daniels on 5/11/11 with an effective date of 1 January 2012. This Indiana Code will allow the local BMV to put military information on the driver’s license if requested by the veteran on the application. The veteran will be required to show proof of service, DD Form 214 (or, I assume, its equivalent) at the time he/she submits the application. This will fulfill the wish of many veterans to be issued some proof of service which they can show to organizations which require such proof, without them having to carry their DD214 around. The fact that the driver’s license also contains a photo and an expiration date will make the driver’s license suffice for just about any requirement.
